Greener Pastures for the Future
Every time you walk into a bookstore, into a grocery store, into your hair salon, they are all boasting about their new eco friendly products. You cannot walk more than 10 feet lately without bumping into something "green." And thank goodness! Have you seen the movie "Wall-E" yet? You should check it out. It makes you think twice about all the trash we put on this earth. Sure you never thought your handbag could possibly end up in a land field one day or the process to make your one handbag could be so daunting on the environment but think again. Companies are not just making your one of a kind bag or your one of a kind hair product, they are making millions for consumers to put to good use. You are one piece of the puzzle. Make sure the piece you contribute brings greener pastures for the future.

Empower yourself with your passions
I have not posted in quite some time now. My SO came home from the military about 4 weeks ago and I have been spending every waking moment with him. Being in the military, you are stripped down to nothing but your bare necessities and you live with that because everyone is in the same position as you are. What would happen to us if we were all stripped down to our bare necessities? What type of people would it make us? In the movie "I Am Legend" with Will Smith, he is all alone and has access to anything he could possibly want as there is no one there to keep him from taking anything. Maybe if we were in that type of situation, we would take the things that we only truly loved and not spend so much time on the things we fancy only a little. In the past year I am learning to stop wanting things just for the sake of wanting them. I have tried to reprogram myself to only go after the things that I truly love and am passionate about and I am finally beginning to succeed. I do not need 20 dresses if I will only wear my 5 favorite ones and I do not need to eat dinner out every night if I love my SO's cooking better than any restaurant. You feel empowered when you make a conscious choice to do only the things you truly want to do.

Sunless tanning tips
Along the way I have found a few things that work well for me.
Exfoliate! If you have ever had a salon exfoliation, you will remember how soft and silky your skin felt afterwards. You want to achieve that at home. I recommend exfoliating twice with a gentle exfoliator the first time you use sunless tanner.
Lotion up your hands with regular lotion...your hands will not absorb as much of the self tanner so you can wash your hands without all the heavy duty scrubbing. Sometimes I mix lotion with my self tanner to help it spread more evenly. It is especially helpful if you are new to self tanning as the color will not come out as dark until you are better at spreading the self tanner evenly.
Feet!! Feet are hard to do. I cover my feet in lotion before I apply self tanner to the rest of my body. When the rest of my body is done, I apply a tiny bit of self tanner all over my feet. People always say only tan the tops of your feet because the sides do not get sun naturally but if you are not careful to blend it well into the sides, you will end up with a beautiful tan on top then completely white on the sides! In my opinion, this is more tell tell than covering the whole foot.
Hands..in the past, I have always had white hands because I wash my hands after the whole apply tanner process. Now, I wash my hands then put a tiny bit of self tanner on a cotton ball and blend into my hand. A makeup sponge will also work. Go light around the knuckles and fingers...
Good luck with your sunless tanner!

Don't Judge a Book by its Cover
Have you ever judged something by the way it looks? I am sure you have!
I am, by nature, a sparkling white girl with absolutely zero color to my skin except the millions of freckles my mother has always told me are angle kisses. Naturally, I want what I cannot have. Some people strive for the perfect hair color from the box, I for the perfect brown tan. I gave up tanning bed tanning a couple years ago because its bad for your skin and honestly, after I achieved a tan people could compliment me on (after 2 or 3 mths!) I would take a break, resulting in a tan that disappears faster than the burnt tanning smell from my nostrils! Since then I have tried an array of different products, Mystic Tan being one of my favorites but who really wants to drive all the way to the salon, take off all your clothes at a strange place, then drive all the way back with the smell reeking in your car. Now I am back at square one. Looking, searching, hoping for the beautiful color I yearn for. I tried Glow Fusion but wow, does it get messy when you have to spray it all over your body but I did achieve a light golden brown color. Everything else had a scary packaging. Lancome Flash Bronzer for example, I knew I had tried it before but looking at the bright orangy bottle put thoughts of oompa loompas in my head, bright orange people running around. So oranges, I stay far far away. Unfortunately for my wallet and my skin, I shouldn't have judged and just really thought back to the beautiful tan I had when I wore it. I love Lancome Flash Bronzer. It gives me a nice brown tan.
Based on the size, shape and colors of things we make predetermined judgments that are hard to break free from but we may be missing out on exactly what we are looking for whether it be the perfect tan, the perfect home or the perfect man.
